When things in your home are where you need to use them, you get more use out of them.
Simple to say, often challenging to do. Home organization can be rough, especially when there are multiple family members, things accumulated over time and a home that seems to stay the same size. But when you find just the right spot for something, a place that makes you wonder why you hadn’t thought of that earlier, it can really be a game-changer.
My wife and I love to cook (she also loves to bake), and over the years we’ve accumulated dozens of cookbooks. Some we’ve donated or given away after saving our favorite recipes, but there are still several that we’ve kept over the years. When we moved into our new home there was seemingly no place to store these cookbooks near the actual kitchen. We settled on keeping them in the family room which isn’t far, but unfortunately the saying is true–out of sight, out of mind.
Literal years went by without opening most up. We even forgot about some of our old favorite recipes. Then one day, out of the blue, my wife moved them all to the pass-thru window between our kitchen and the foyer. Now our collection is close at hand for reference or inspiration, and the pass-thru has a newfound purpose.
